Working with me is like:

I’m William, but some people call me Bill. Most call me Aperture. A very select few know me as BillUps, but you’re gonna have to peep my jumper to fully comprehend that one. I was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
Around 16, I picked up my first camera with the intention of creating images. I wasn’t very good at it, as was evidenced by my neophyte masterpiece “Crushed Surge Can on the Stairs at School”. I got a little better over the years and by age 19, I was producing quality landscape, event, wedding, portrait, and macrophotography images shot on Kodak TMAX, Kodachrome, Ektachrome, and Portra films, using Linhof, Hasselblad, Leica, Nikon, and Canon systems.
After a long break from photography to pursue a career in business administration, I returned to the world of image-making in 2014 with a renewed fire and fervor, focusing on portrait, fashion, fine art, and music promotional images.
Since then, I have devoted every possible moment to my craft through practice, education, networking, collaboration, innovation, and experience in creative direction and running marketing campaigns.
I’m passionate about visual storytelling and working on projects in which we’re trying to achieve more than many can even imagine.
I’m passionate about representation of underseen, underrepresented, and underappreciated communities and helping to tell stories of growth, progress, free expression, and abundance.
I’m passionate about elevating the visual perception of the brands, creatives, and agencies I work with and I enthusiastically embrace new opportunities to team up to achieve important marketing, promotional, and artistic goals.
I’m driven to be the hardest-working and most impactful digital artist and filmmaker in the world. As of the writing of this bio, I’m at the precipice of exponential growth of a significantly impactful empire that’s dedicated to uplifting, supporting, and providing for generations of artists. I’m grateful and blessed to have the opportunity to work with so many talented, expressive, dedicated, and committed clients.
In addition to creating photographic art, quality video work of multiple genres including live music, films, music videos, interviews, podcasts, and commercial work, designing logos, websites, pitch decks, marketing blueprints, and other graphical assets for myself and for clients, creating streetwear that I love, curating and promoting shows, and moving around in VC spaces, I also enjoy comedy, music, basketball, sociology, theology, psychology, cooking, bacchanal, and fine chocolate.
Currently located in Boston, MA, although I regularly travel throughout the United States for creative projects. I am also available to be booked internationally.
Testimonials
I have worked with Bill several times since 2019. Each encounter with him was very pleasurable.
He is a true professional.
He has taken time to perfect his craft behind the camera as well as in post with editing and all the other elements of photography.
Rather than just holding the camera and snapping the photos, he creates an entire experience and is very personable.
Being an experienced model myself, something I can really appreciate from him is that he even helps me with posing direction.
You will be far from disappointed and will return several times over just as I have!

Being a new mom comes with a lot of challenges. As women we deal with the difficulty of accepting our new curves, learning to love our stretch marks, and just dealing with the fact that our bodies have gone through significant changes.
Choosing to use Bill as my photographer has been one of many great decisions I’ve made in recent years.
He is truly a professional that takes his time when it comes to understanding his clients.
His artistic view just can’t be matched.
I have been working with Bill for over four years now. He has helped me capture moments that are beyond important to me. His ideas and vision can only add value to whatever it is that you are trying to capture.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone else for the job. If you’re looking for a professional with a great mind, Bill’s your guy.
